Frequently asked questions

How long does the entire process take?

From purchase to delivery, most projects take 4–6 weeks. The biggest variable is how quickly your storyteller completes the recording sessions — we encourage families to take their time and not rush the conversations. Once we receive your raw audio, production typically takes 10–14 business days.

What recording equipment do I need?

Your purchase includes a detailed recording guide with gear recommendations at every price point — from a $60 USB microphone to using just your smartphone. Better audio equipment produces better results, but we can work with a range of quality levels. The most important thing is a quiet room and the microphone close to the speaker.

Can I record myself instead of someone else?

Absolutely. Many of our customers are parents who want to record their own stories, beliefs, and wisdom for their children. The process works the same way — we personalize the questions based on what you want to share and what matters most to your family.

What if my loved one isn't comfortable being recorded?

This is more common than you'd think, and it usually resolves itself once the conversation starts. Our questions are designed to feel like a warm conversation, not an interview. We also include coaching tips in your recording guide on how to put your storyteller at ease. Most people forget the microphone is there within five minutes.

What if the audio quality isn't great?

We do light audio cleanup — leveling volume, reducing background noise, and improving clarity where needed. We're not trying to make your loved one sound like a radio host. The goal is to preserve their real voice in the best quality possible. Following our recording guide helps a lot, and we're happy to review a test clip before your storyteller commits to the full recording.

How do I share the finished podcast with my family?

You'll receive a private podcast link that works in any podcast app (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.) or in a web browser. Just share the link with anyone in your family — they can listen from their phone, computer, or tablet. It's private, meaning only people with the link can access it.

Can I add more episodes later?

Yes. Additional audio beyond the included 4 hours is $49 per 15-minute block. Many families also come back months later for follow-up sessions as new stories come to mind or as other family members want to record their own — just reach out and we'll set it up.

Is this a good gift for someone with dementia or memory issues?

It can be, depending on the stage. For people in early stages, recording sessions can actually be a beautiful and therapeutic experience — our questions are designed to tap into long-term memories, which are often the last to fade. For more advanced stages, we recommend having a family member present to help guide the conversation. We're happy to discuss your specific situation before you purchase.

How much raw audio should we record?

The founding member package includes up to 4 hours of raw audio, which becomes 5 episodes of 30–40 minutes each. We keep nearly everything — the real moments, the natural pauses, the authentic voice. If your conversations run longer than 4 hours (it happens — great stories are hard to stop), additional time is available at $49 per additional 15 minutes.

What's the difference between the DIY Kit and the Full Service?

The DIY Kit ($79) gives you everything you need to do it yourself — AI-personalized interview questions, a recording guide, episode structure template, intro/outro music, editing tutorial, and a pull-quote card generator. You handle the recording and editing. The Full Service ($699) is hands-off — you record the conversations and we handle everything else: audio production, music, transcripts, and delivery of 5 finished episodes.

Can I give ForeverSaid as a gift?

Yes — and it's one of the most popular ways people buy ForeverSaid. You'll receive a printable gift certificate with a unique redemption code and space for a personal message. The recipient redeems it when they're ready. Gift certificates are available for both the Full Service ($699) and the DIY Kit ($79). Families often pool resources together to make it a shared gift. What if I'm not happy with the final product?

We include revisions until you're happy. If you'd like specific moments removed, episodes reordered, or audio adjusted, just let us know after delivery and we'll make it right. Our editing philosophy is to preserve authenticity — we keep the real person, not a polished version of them — so most revisions are minor adjustments rather than overhauls.
